Description Graham Perrin 2008-02-27 16:05:33 UTC
Keyword: Aqua

PhilippL in irc://irc.freenode.net/#ooo_macport asked to be notified of this ticket but I don't know his ID
here.

If Start centre (grey background, "Welcome to OpenOffice.org…" foreground) is closed, then there's no
obvious way of recalling that welcome screen.

(The options may be nested in menus, but the start centre is nice.)

(Start centre appears when OOo is launched, but recall should not require a quit and re-launch.)

If there's no way of recalling the window, then add to OpenOffice.org Help an explanation
 * with direction to the menu options.

I see some references to AppleWorks behaviour, but I shouldn't treat AppleWorks as exemplary.

take over
Comment 3 philipp.lohmann 2008-03-05 17:32:05 UTC
If we want to have this, we should add
- an entry for the StartCenter to the QuickStart menu
- an option in tools->options->general to behave like other platforms when
closing the last document (namely replace the document by the
BackingWindow/StartCenter).

"resolved fixed" is the wrong state for this, reopening

The suggestion in (duplicate) Issue 91545 seems ideal to me; logically, a single click on the Dock icon,
when no windows are open, should/could present the Start centre.

Cross reference Issue 94393

Apple-n key combination is surprisingly unrecognised.

The start centre should be an ideal candidate for this key combination.

And what kind of document would Cmd-N open then ?

Comment 12 Graham Perrin 2008-10-08 22:10:16 UTC
For now, I'm treating as separate:

* this issue 86520
(focus: OOo start centre on demand)

* and issue 94393
(focus: command-n sometimes unrecognised, sometimes inconsistent).

> And what kind of document would Cmd-N open then ?

My response to pl appears under 94393.

Any news on this one? IMHO 3.1 feature freeze is already too close.
Comment 15 philipp.lohmann 2008-12-04 15:46:31 UTC
implementing as suggested: start modules comes up when
- a new quickstart menu item (with shortcut Cmd-N) gets selected
- or the application dock icon gets pressed and no other document frame is open

Comment 19 Graham Perrin 2008-12-17 11:07:36 UTC
Re issue 90815 and its recent attachment

> Small Extension which disable the StartModule

If a user installs that extension, then

* will command-N simply do nothing

or

* might some error occur?

OOoDEVm39 tested, feels good. Thanks!
Comment 21 vladimir_hitekschool 2009-03-30 22:52:48 UTC
Issue 86520 has been fixed in master version OOo-dev 3.1 .0 (OOO310m7 Build:9393) for Mac OS 10.5.6
and can be closed. Just click on the OOo icon in dock and Start Center will appear again.
