Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 22312
Brackets are not completely displayed
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:55:55 UTC
When using brackets in the formula editor, the upper and lower endings are not displayed. They are printed quite well, though ... example: left[ 2314 - 2342 right]
Can confirm with OOo 1.1.0(en) on Win98. Duplicate of Issue 16470?
OK in SRC680 m13 with Win XP. Only the lower border of the brackets is overwritten by the object boundary. If one disables the drawing of the object boundary (see "Tools / Options - StarOffice - Appearance" the checkbox for "Object boundaries" listed in the "General" section) everything is fine. TL->MRU: Please have a look if there is a problem with Win98.
Created attachment 11156 [details] Disappearing brackets
In OOo 1.1 both endings can disappear - see attachment (disabled objekt boundaries)
MRU->TL: Can reproduce the problem on Win98. There the brackets look as on Georg's Screenshot (even in the PrintPreview).
TL->HDU: Please have a look.
HDU->IH: The problem is similar to ones we had with the OpenSymbol equal or greaterequal signs. The upper angle seems to go higher than ascent + internal leading. I suggest to move it a bit lower and check it with different zoom settings on W98.
IH: I have no time to do anything about that problem at the moment. Sorry.
Ok, retargeted to OO later.

Can confirm this issue with OOo 1.1.3 under Windows 2000 Pro. Document screenshot : http://jmmolina.free.fr/t_30510/issue_22312.png Page preview at 200% screenshot : http://jmmolina.free.fr/t_30510/issue_22312_page_preview_200.png Also, don't forget to checkout the screenshots I present in my comment to issue 31787. This formula is only correctly displayed at 400% zooming in page preview mode : http://jmmolina.free.fr/t_30510/issue_22312_page_preview_400.png So I guess the display problem comes from a line not drawn because its width is inferior to 1, floating values used by vector graphics but converted, so truncated, to integer values before display. So for example if the vector width is 0.5 its rendered width, pixel size, is 0, so not displayed. I'm just guessing, I have no idea how OOo renders the formula but I experienced the problem years ago while working on 2D and 3D graphics engines.
IH: fixed in CWS extras16.
IH: changed target.
