Description George Page 2012-06-23 15:02:24 UTC
After down loading OO 3.4, then starting any of the applications, spreadsheet in particular, Open Office tells me "an unexpected crash of Open Office has happened." This will totally lock up any of the Open Office applications and leaves a box on my screen that I cannot remove. It tells me that all of my files will be preserved but I cannot save or use any file. I have tried to remove the program and re-load the entire suite. Once re-loaded, the same problem re-occurs. I have very important files and I cant address them and/or use them.

Please help. I am using an HP model G72-55DX notebook PC running Windows 7

Please look for the file "registrymodifications.xcu" in your Windows 7 user profile. It is likely in a hidden folder "App data". Make sure, that nothing from AOO is running (no soffice.bin in task manager), rename this file and try to start AOO then; the file will be recreated. Please tell us whether this solves the problem.

I have installed Open Office 3.4.1, 3 times. When I've tried to open it and use it, it will crash within 20 to 30 seconds, "an unexpected error has occured" Not what I would call reliable. I am using a Dell Inspiron, with Windows 7.

No response back from users, but sounds like known profile issue, fixed in AOO 4.0.
