    Description

Two problems observed while addressing HADOOP-9132:

      1. On people.apache.org: /www/www.apache.org/dist/hadoop/core/ is a symbolic link to /www/www.apache.org/dist/hadoop/common/, and correspondingly http://www.apache.org/dist/hadoop/core/ and http://www.apache.org/dist/hadoop/common/ display the same content.

However, altho /www/archive.apache.org/dist/hadoop/core/ is also a symbolic link to /www/archive.apache.org/dist/hadoop/common/, the web page http://archive.apache.org/dist/hadoop/core/ displays a page that is empty except for a text message (see attached screen shot, taken with Chrome browser). It is desirable that it show the same content as http://archive.apache.org/dist/hadoop/common/.

There is some evidence that this effect may be intermittent or browser-dependent, as some people seem to have observed http://archive.apache.org/dist/hadoop/core/ behaving correctly some of the time.

      2. The files /www/www.apache.org/dist/hadoop/common/{readme.txt,KEYS} have been modified (readme.txt by me). This directory is under svn control as http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/hadoop/common/dist/, but when I tried to commit the change, the commit was rejected with the message:

      mattf@minotaur:/www/www.apache.org/dist/hadoop/common$ svn commit readme.txt -m "update readme.txt to point to http://archive.apache.org/dist/hadoop/common/ instead of .../core/"
svn: E155004: Commit failed (details follow):
svn: E155004: Working copy '/x1/www/www.apache.org/dist/hadoop/common' locked
svn: E200031: attempt to write a readonly database
svn: E200031: attempt to write a readonly database
svn: run 'svn cleanup' to remove locks (type 'svn help cleanup' for details)

If it is intended to keep these files read-only, please update them. If it is intended for release managers to be able to commit changes, please inform how. Thanks.
