Multiplication symbol should be omitted when the unit is Units.UNITY

    Description

      When formatting a unit which is Units.UNITY scaled to some value, since Units.UNITY has no symbol, attempts to format it produce confusing strings. Example with the number of icebergs per 100 km²:

      Symbol in netCDF file: 1e-2 km-2
      SIS 0.8 representation: 1.0E-8⋅∕m²

      Note the multiplication immediately followed by division sign above.
