Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 98962
WW8: exported file (containing table) crashes OOO 3.0.1 on re-opening
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:43:11 UTC
Using OOO 3.0.1, after saving an odt file as Microsoft 97/2000/XP (.doc) format, reopening the file in OOO causes OOO to crash during the import processing. This seems a new issue in OOO 3.0.1 (as I've being using similar files without problem in 3.0.0). The test files can be downloaded from: http://www.todheugh.plus.com/paul/card.odt http://www.todheugh.plus.com/paul/card.doc Paul

Created attachment 59984 [details] Failing MS/Word exported file that crashes OOO 3.0.1 on input
I have reinstalled OOO 3.0.0 and it can open the MS/Word created file, although some of the formatting is askew. The export from OOO 3.0.0 produces a much better version Word version of the file. So I think that there are two issues: (1) OOO 3.0.1 produces a poor version of my file when exporting to Word format (2) OOO 3.0.1 produces a word version of the file that it cannot actually read.
I can confirm this issue under Ubuntu 8.04 .doc file produced by OOo 3.0.1 does DEV300_m40 crash too. set OS to All. Regards JBF
MRU->HBRINKM: export mentioned odt to WW8 format, reopen -> crash.
Issue 96307 is the same and has already 2 votes. Thanks to mark one of these as duplicate.
Issue 96307 is similar, and may be the same root cause, but it is not necessarily the same as one crashes Word and the other crashes OpenOffice.
