Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 94119
When resizing formula object: "protect size" automatically locks back.
Last modified: 2021-06-17 10:56:06 UTC
how to reproduce: Open a presentation. Insert a formula object. The default formula size is, sadly, too small. One has to increase it manually. Choose Format->Position and Size->uncheck the 'size'. change the object size. If you want to change again - you have to uncheck 'size' again and again. The protect 'size' is locked again automatically. This is (a) annoying and (b) different from OOo.org 2.x behavior. More notes: (1) In Writer it is not even possible to change formula object size. Is it acceptable? Was it so in 2.x ? (2) Usability: Please, make the default Formula object size be in coherence with last font size used. Today's default is insensibly small. (3) UI: In Impress, both ways to change object size; right click and Format menu coherently named: "Position and Size". In Writer, however, it is under "Object" for right click, and under "Frame" in the Format menu. Moreover, there exist an inaccessible "Object" item in the Format menu. Confusing, I must say.
The behaviour in OOo2.4.1 was the same. Problem is reproducible. Reassigned.
I can confirm this behavior, using OpenOffice 2.4.1 in a GNU/Linux box (Kubuntu 8.04 "Hardy") Maybe related to this, I've found that editing the same file with same version of OpenOffice in *different* computers results in a totally distorted formula, and the only way to recover is through the sequence: Restore to original size -> Double click to edit -> do some editing and undo it -> click outside -> unprotect size -> adjust to desired size.
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
