Description orwel 2008-07-02 07:35:22 UTC
OO 3.0 beta still does not open multiple files from Windows explorer correctly:
1. opening multiple shortcut-files does not work neither in Writer nor in Scalc
2. opening multiple files (xls, ods) does not work if the files are protected
by password (for opening).
Comment 1 orwel 2008-10-28 10:49:11 UTC
This problem was PARTLY resolved in OOO300m9, but the problem PERSIST if you try
to open multiple shortcuts to files protected by password from windows explorer
- only one file will be opened.

As given in comment 1.

Not a valid bug report, any useful information missing!

NOT reproducible with "AOO 4.0.1 – German UI / German locale [Rev. 1524958 2013-09-20 11:40:29]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", “historic” 4.0 User Profile used for all predecessor versions:

1. Create and save (into the same folder) some simple new Writer documents
   "WriterDocument01.odt", "WriterDocument02.odt", "WriterDocument03.odt"
2. Exit AOO
3. go to folder with documents in WIN File Explorer
4. Select all 3 documents by
4.1 click on first document in folder
    > becomes highlighted
4.2 shift+click on last document in folder
    > all documents have become higlighted
5. Rightdlick (on last document in folder) -> Open'
As expected all 3 documents become opened

@Edwin Sharp, @reporter
What exactly is the problem?
Comment 4 orwel 2013-12-31 08:15:35 UTC
The problem was described in the comment 2008-10-28 as partly solved. Try to continue in your example with password protected files and shortcuts (for scalc).
ENVIR.: Win 7 (64 bit) +LO 4.1.3
1. Create sheet1.ods and protect the file with a pasword for opening.
2. Create sheet2.ods and also protect with password.
3. Create shortcuts to sheet1 and sheet 2.
4. Highlight sheet1.lnk and sheet2.lnk (I use CTRL+Left mouse)
5. press ENTER
ONLY ONE FILE will open.

If you use the same procedure with sheet1.ods and sheet2.ods, LO ask for the first password, then opens first file and ask for second password and opens also second file.

By using the shortcuts only first file will open and LO does not ask for the second password.

(In reply to orwel from comment #4)

Yes, I see, original report is concerning opening viy Shortcut.xxx.lnk.
I can more or less reproduce observations, but the question is whether that's an AOO or a WIN problem. Works fine from AOO-WIN File dialog (AOO-OO File dialog fails because of "Bug 18523 - wrong handling symbolic links for directories " and related ones)

@orwel
Do you know a WIN software for what that works?
Comment 6 Rainer Bielefeld 2013-12-31 11:29:43 UTC
I tried with 3 word.doc, related shortcut files and MS WORD viewer. Same as with AOO for .odt: 3 documents opened from MS WORD Viewer File dialog, but when trying to open simultaneously from WIN Files explorer only one opens.

That seems to show that it's a WIN problem, not an AOO problem.
Comment 7 orwel 2013-12-31 13:13:16 UTC
Probably you are right. I tried to repeat the procedure with MS Excell and 2 password protected xlsx sheets and shortcuts of them with the same result, only one has been opened. I think you can close this bug. Thank you for handling with it.
