Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 91260
Request for inclusion of Page Size 8.5"x13"
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:02:13 UTC
Legal-Size paper format in some parts of the world generally refers to "8.5 x 13.0 inches" page size, also known as "Folio" or "German Legal Fanfold". Locally known in the Philippines as "Long Bond Paper", this "8.5 x 13 inches" is what common filipino people use when they want to print legal documents (contracts, deeds, affidavits, etc). More often than not, ordinary and not-so-knowledgeable users of OOo and/or MSWord (eg. like my 65 year old father), will mistakenly choose "US-Legal" or 8.5 x 14 inches in the Page format, when they should in fact be choosing Folio (which is not available in the drop-down menu), or customizing the paper size to 8.5" x 13". It would be nice if OOo development team just include "Folio" in the page size format option. It's easier to teach new users to "point and click". That way, there is less time wasted in customizing every newly installed OOo, just trying to create a customized 'page style' to support Folio (the Philippine Legal-Size paper format). Thanks, Rally de Leon OOo Philippine User
Adding the size to the UI is probably a good idea (we have it internally as SVX_PAPER_LEGAL2), but the name "Folio" is ambiguous, e.g. the Postscript "Folio" term (http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/ps/5003.PPD_Spec_v4.3.pdf) refers to a 210mm X 330mm (8.27 x 13 inch) paper size while this size is called "FanFoldGermanLegal". Maybe one of "Long Bond paper", "Legal (Philippines)" or "PH Legal" might be a suitable default English UI name for it.
