Description daviddillard 2005-10-17 20:03:22 UTC
I'm trying to move from MS Office to OpenOffice. In Word and FrontPage the Ctrl-
K key combination is used to create a hyperlink. I tried using the Customize
menu item in Writer to create a key mapping to get this behavior. It appears to
work, however when I hit Ctrl-K the hyperlink dialog does not appear. Now, when
I change the Ctrl-K key mapping to insert a horizontal ruler (the item right
above hyperlink in the selection box) and hit Ctrl-K the ruler dialog is
displayed.

I posted this on http://www.oooforum.org/
(http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=25211) and someone there
confirmed that they had the same problem.

Reassigned to ES.
Comment 2 eric.savary 2005-10-26 04:13:23 UTC
ES->OS: it looks like a slot problem. In OOo 1.1.4, the "Insert Hyperlink" (and
not "Hyerlink") command raises the Character dialog on tabpage "Hyerlink"
Comment 3 Oliver Specht 2005-11-17 14:40:02 UTC
Insert/Hyperlink configures the command EditHyperlink
The command InsertHyperlinkDlg - the desired command - is not listed in
tools/customize.
Comment 4 eric.savary 2005-12-15 16:07:24 UTC
Not a huge regression against 1.1.x -> 2.0.3
Comment 5 Oliver Specht 2006-05-18 12:43:27 UTC
Target changed to 2.x
Comment 6 Martin Hollmichel 2007-09-10 13:36:12 UTC
move target to 3.x according http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Target_3x

In my opinion this is something that is important when it comes to productivity.
Not being able to use the keyboard for this operation lowers efficiency.

I can reproduce this bug on both XP and Linux builds .. so it seems to be valid
still. Please consider fixing this soon or maybe someone has a workaround?

My last post was wrong, as of OO 3.1 keymapping on the Customize menu item works
as expected - the correct command "Insert Hyperlink" is now listed.

The whole insertion process is still abit confusing as there is in fact two
dialogboxes that let you do almost the same operation.

This issue should be closed.

Where is the problem? In category "Edit" the function "Hyperlink" opens the
hyperlink dialog and there is no problem to assign it to Strg+K. I use OOo3.1
and OOo3.1.0m16 on WinXP. Do you use the wrong function?

(category "Edit", function "Open Hyperlinks" jumps to the target and opens a
browser for example, and function "Remove Hyperlinks" removes it, but the text
remains.)
Comment 10 jibeddari 2009-07-29 15:04:43 UTC
Regina, I was wrong, it does work.

However, when browsing the "Insert" category the first entry that looks correct
is "Hyperlink" - this entry however only lets you edit hyperlinks.

Scrolling further down I you'll find "Insert hyperlink" .. but isn't that kind
of redundant anyways, when you are browsing the "Insert" category? :-)

Maybe at least the first entry should be renamed to "Edit hyperlink"? Still the
same dialog works as -insert- when invoked from the menu. Sigh..

I wonder why this bug is taking so long to fix? Is it really targeted for 4.x ?

I am able to reproduce it in 3.4.1

On version 4.0.1 (en-US version):
Entry : Command
Menu - Edit - Hyperlink... : .uno:EditHyperlink
Menu - Insert - Hyperlink... : .uno:HyperlinkDialog

On Tools - Customize - Keyboard tab:
Category - Function : Command
Insert - Insert Hyperlink: .uno:InsertHyperlinkDlg
Edit - Hyperlink (1st): .uno:HyperlinkDialog
Edit - Hyperlink (2nd): .uno:EditHyperlink

If you want to open insert hyperlink dialog, assign Edit - Hyperlink (1st) to
the shortcut key.
But the order of content of Function listbox depends on the localization.

This issue is no longer valid as descrived in Comment 12.

But I'm wondering why .uno:HyperlinkDialog command listed under Edit category.
The same command is used in the Insert menu of Calc, Impress, Web, Global, Draw and xForm. Its better to be categorized in Insert category.
