Word allows you to select a line or multiple lines by positioning the mouse
cursor to the left of the paragraph and clicking... this allows for rapid
selection of text - shouldn't ooo support this, like the new row selection
feature for ooo 2.0?

The Issue you raised has been marked as 'Resolved' and not updated within the
