We use OpenOffice for creating technical documentation, and one feature that it lacks compared to 
other similar packages (FrameMaker, latek) is a font effect called overbar.  Overbar is exactly like 
underlining except it is over the word instead of under it, and in electrical engineering it is used to 
show a signal that is true when it is 0, instead of 1.

Second the suggestion -- I chair a standards committee, and currently there is
no bitrot-resistant format suitable for our documents.  OO.o would do
beautifully except for the lack of overbar.
