Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 125077
Question about extension updates giving unexpected choices.
Last modified: 2019-02-27 23:11:33 UTC
W7 x64 sp1 current updates. Apache Open Office 4.1 Received "Update for extensions available". "Spell Check for OO.4.1 available": Downloaded "Dic-En.oxt and selected it. Clicked on this file. Open Office 4.1 Opened with a window displaying the update for spell checking OO 3x.? The only option available was "Disable or Remove". Was expecting to see Installation complete, or "Install update" or "cancel"... Well, I'm not a developer in the code world. I have no Idea what those two choices leads to. What I don't want to do is break this app! I've read previously that those who write these great "FREE" apps., sometimes have little or no patience to those of us in fly-over country who struggle just to understand how to use these apps. What seems a "No Brainer" to you is a "What the..." to the rest of us. A little more information concerning the "how to and what to" Install/Update your "Only need to click" updates. I tried to follow a thread close to this one and found MANY with "Duplicate Issue" or some other listing, but could not find the original answer of the original content. I'm a graduate Automation Engineer of 35+ years in the Aerospace industry. I'm also a 44 year active commercial pilot with 25,000+ hours in just about every aircraft produced. I would NEVER imply a less than normal capacity towards someone for not understanding the intricacies of my professional language or procedures. I'm commenting to some of the responses given to issues submitted by us "Average" users of the Open Office Update feature. RS. Orlando, Florida. USA
>The only option available was "Disable or Remove". >Was expecting to see Installation complete, or "Install update" or "cancel" Because, you must download OXT first. Once, you run it and extension manager will propose to update. >A little more information concerning the "how to and what to" >Install/Update your "Only need to click" updates. If you think that documentation is not enough, you are welcome to enhanced it.
