Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 122835
Fonts not installed
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:03:13 UTC
4.0.0 install on my Windows Seven machine: the /share/fonts folder is not installed. Therefore all the custom bullets styles are wrecked. Everything returns to normal when copying the folder from the 3.4.1 version. NB: the fonts folder is installed in the deb packaging.
How to verify this? I can check on a fresh Windows image that has no previous OpenOffice install. But what are some font names I can check for to verify that one is missing?
Confirmed WinXP SP3 when installed over OOo 3.4.1 and selecting remove old versions.
@Rob: easy to verify: there is no /fonts folder. A typical font inside is OpenSymbol (opens___.ttf I think) in the /truetype subfolder.
Checked in a clean install on a new Win7, 32-bit machine. So no OOo or AOO has ever been on this machine. After installing AOO 4.0 I confirmed that opens___.ttf is correctly installed. Checked a clean install of AOO 3.4.1 on Windows XP. Fonts are there. Then upgraded the 3.4.1 machine to 4.0.0. Told it to remove older AOO as part of install. Checked for font and it was still there, though with an updated date of July 10th. So I was *not* able to confirm the removal of the font.
I have .../share/fonts installed on linux rpm as of 4.0.1. Is this corrected now?
Can anybody still reproduce this bug on a recent snapshot build or can I close this as not reproducible?
I have checked on my Windows 7 my installations of the last three developer snapshots (two from January 2014, one from February 2014) and my installation of a recent trunk build. All installations contain /share/fonts/ But, my AOO for the productive usage does not contain the /share/fonts/ folder. The difference between these installations is that the last one is a standard user installation while the other are administrative installations. Then I checked my Windows 7 Home Premium VM where I have snapshots on different stages (no AOO/OOo, OOo 3.3.0, AOO 3.4.0, ..., different upgrade paths, etc.). It reveals that a standard user installation installs the fonts system-wide (not locally in the installation) on Windows 7. Thus, it is for me reproducible that /share/fonts/ is missing, but it is not needed as the fonts are installed system-wide. I propose to close this issue.
Thanks for the investigation! Since I don't have admin rights on my machine at work, it is certainly the reason why I lost the fonts when copying the AOO folders from my home machine to my work machine. I confirm that the OpenSymbol font seems to have been installed with AOO (according to time stamp) on my home machine (system-wide, running Seven). OK to close it.
Set to not_an_issue.
