Sorry, not reproducible. Is this really version1.0 you are using? Please update.
Which OS do you use? Please give a detailed setp by step description.

I have been unable to replicate this bug. I did all of my testing on each of the following configurations, except where differences are noted:

Configuration 1
Impress: OpenOffice.org 1.0.3
OS: Windows XP Professional Version 2002 - SP3
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo 2.53GHz
RAM: 1GB
Hard drive: 15GB
*Note: Running on VMware Workstation

Configuration 2
Impress: OOo-dev 3.4.0 (DEV300m106 Build:9582)
OS: Windows XP Professional Version 2002 - SP3
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo 2.53GHz
RAM: 3GB
Hard drive: 143GB

Configuration 3
Impress: OpenOffice 3.3.0 OOo330m20 (build 9567)
Impress: OOo-dev 3.4.0 (DEV300m106 Build:9582)
OS: Windows 7 Home Edition Premium
System type: 64bit
Processor: Inter(R) Core(TM) i7 2.67 GHz
RAM: 6GB
Hard drive: 450GB

**Note: I have used the default Impress settings in all cases. I looked for relevant settings to alter, but did not have time to fully explore and test the different variations.

Steps I took to try to reproduce failure reported:
   1. Create new Impress presentation.
   2. Enter text on the slide and highlight the text.
   3. Highlight the value in the Font Size field on the toolbar.
   4. Type in "36" to replace the previous Font Size value.
   5. Press Enter.
Result: The highlighted text changes to font size 36.

Follow-up tests:

First I performed a series of follow-up tests focused on varying Step 4 in the basic reproduction steps above.
   1. Type "3999"; result: font size changes to 999.9
   2. Type "999999"; result: font size changes to 999.9
   3. Type "-36"; result: font size changes to 2
   4. Type ".36"; result: font size changes to 2
   5. Type "0"; result: font size changes to 2
   6. Type "3+6"; result: font size changes to 36
   7. Type "3*6plus9"; result: font size changes to 369
   8. Type "36*36"; result: font size changes to 999.9
   9. Type "thirty-six"; result: font size reverts to previous number
   10. Paste "36" from other applications (tried Word, Notepad, and Excel); font size changes to 36

Conclusions from these follow-up tests (and other repetitions/variations I made but did not list):
	Keying or pasting...
           - any number lower than 2 results in font size of 2
	   - any number within the range 2 to 999.9 results in same font size as entered
	   - any number 1000 or greater results in font size of 999.9
	   - any combination of numbers and text (including math symbols) results in font size of numbers entered with text/symbols stripped, unless numbers are >999.9, then result is 999.9
	   - only text results in no change to font size from previous value

Next I varied Step 3 in the reproduction steps at the top by highlighting the value in the Font Name field instead of the Font Size field.

Result after completing rest of steps: No change in font size. (There is also no apparent change in the Font Name displayed -- it stays "36" -- I plan to run more follow-up tests and post a separate bug report for this.)

Next I varied the file type. The previous tests were done on new files created in Impress. Steps:
   1. Create new presentation in MS PowerPoint 2007 (12.0) SP2.
   2. Enter text and highlight text.
   3. Type "36" in Font Size and press Enter.
Result: Highlighted text changes to font size 36.
   4. Save file as PPT file.
   5. Open PPT file in Impress.
Result: Font size of text is 36.

I repeated this test with the following variations:
    - Alter Step 3 to type numbers larger than 999
Result: No change in font size beyond 999
    - Alter Step 4 to use PPTX
After completing the rest of the steps I was unable to reproduce the issue where font size is 3999 in Impress.

Finally, here is one test that could partially explain the behavior described by the user:
   1. Single-click in Font Size field while current font size is greater than or equal to 10.
   2. Type "36".
   3. Press Enter.
RESULT: Font size changes to 999.9.
Please see attached set of related screenshots: "Enter_36_Result_999_screenshots.jpg”

This sequence demonstrates an opportunity for unexpected behavior , but does not indicate a bug and does not reproduce the end state of "3999" font size.

Sorry, but I cannot replicate the bug.

I did some testing based on the following configurations.
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel (R) Core (TM) i3
Memory: 3.00 GB (2.86 GB usable)

Here are the steps I took when I tried to replicate the bug.
1.	Created a new Impress representation file. Since there is no descriptions about what the settings of the presentation, I chose default settings in all cases.
2.	Entered text on the first slide and highlighted all the text.
3.	Typed in 36 to replace previous font size.
4.	Pressed Enter.

Result: The highlighted text changed to 36 font size, and the other texts stayed the same.

Also, I did some follow-up testing.

1.	Type "36666"; result: font size changes to 999.9
2.	Type "999999"; result: font size changes to 999.9
3.	Type "-36"; result: font size changes to 2
4.	Type ".36"; result: font size changes to 2
5.	Type "+36";result: font size changes to 36
6.	Type "0"; result: font size changes to 2
7.	Type "3+6"; result: font size changes to 36
8.	Type "3*6$0"; result: font size changes to 369
9.	Type "36*36"; result: font size changes to 999.9
10.	Type "thirty-six"; result: font size reverts to previous number

Hope all that can help.
