Description lamarcbr 2003-01-27 06:10:53 UTC
Current behavior: Double-clicking selects a word.
Triple-clicking selects a line.

Suggested behavior: Holding the ctrl key and clicking on the mouse should
select the current sentence, from the previous period (.) to the next period
(.). To double-click in text should select the current paragraph. The current
behavior of line selection on triple-clicking is aberrant. A line of text is
not an object for a word processor.

Let me add further details to my comments:

To ctrl+double-click in text should select the current paragraph. ctrl
was omitted in the original text.

The current behavior of line selection on triple-clicking is aberrant.
A line of text is not an object for a word processor. More details:
sentences and paragraph are more practical selection objects.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".

Holding down the left mouse button and dragging the cursor should give a visible confirmation of selected text, but does not in writer.
Comment 9 lamarcbr 2013-09-11 20:13:38 UTC
It seems this enhancement request has been adressed with the recent builds. Double-clicking selects the word. Triple-clicking selects the sentence. While it is not exactly as Word does it is perfectly acceptable to me. So we can close this bug.

I cannot reproduce the problem experienced by the previous poster.
Comment 10 Raphael Bircher 2014-01-23 13:01:00 UTC
So, the poster asked to close the issue. so I will close. The main issue seems to be solved.
