looks like there were some changes to precommit that impact generated docs that haven't been checked in on the source side.

want to make sure what I use to update the site is what's actually in git.

edit: I'm leaning towards removing the generated markdown for the apidocs from the source tree. We could push them into a .gitignored build directory and just publish the HTML, similar to how we handle the Java docs.
