I subscribed to the general@incubator list before I sent the first mail. Yesterday, I learned the hard way that the list doesn't accept mails from people that are not subscribed to it after reconfiguring my Google account from a "@googlemail" address to "@gmail" address. I also got mails from other people via the list, but not my own. No idea what happened. I un/re-subscribed the list.

Re: replying, keeping in the thread. The posts appeared on the Incubator mailing list. I'm guessing you were not subscribed to that? I think doing reply in that list would thread the replies correctly.

IP Clearance process successful, no -1 votes.

        http://incubator.markmail.org/thread/pvofqqmgjlyksj54

P.S.: I double-checked any replies to the vote on Markmail since I never got a copy of my original post via the mailing list. For this reason, I could not reply to the post and Markmail shows the vote call and the vote result are different threads.

re: CCLA: I checked the documents again. Both institutions should have followed the same procedure to submit the grant. I chose to submit both, the SGA (which includes a CCLA and names authors) and a separate CCLA for Darmstadt (even though secretary@apache said the SGA would be enough), while UC submitted only the SGA and no separate CCLA. Despite this slight difference in the execution of the process, both should be treated equivalently. Hence, I committed the version mentioning both.

        Committed uimafit.xml to https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/public/trunk/content/ip-clearance

        Sent mail to general@incubator: http://incubator.markmail.org/thread/xz5at7asrnkx4t2e

re: running the build-ip-clearances script - I fixed this script, so if you "update to head" for that file, you'll get the fix, and it won't mess up other parts of the website if you run it. We only run it, by the way, to help insure that the .xml file we commit to the incubator can be successfully updated on the incubator site.

I'm slightly in favor of following the Apache procedures - which don't ask about CCLAs generally, as part of ip-clearance. I'm -0 on your committing the mention of the Darmstadt CCLA in the software-grants section.

re: mentioning the Darmstadt CCLA - if you don't mind, I'd keep it in anyway and commit it as is.

re: permissions - that's probably correct, I re-used a checkout that I already had. I'll svn switch and try again.

hmmmm, something looks wrong in the build-ip-clearances generation script. Investigating... it may try to regenerate other files in our website, outside of the ip-clearances!

I think you have full permissions to do an svn checkout of our "site" at https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/uima/site/trunk/uima-website/

My guess is that you might have used http: instead of https: which would give you read-only access. Can you try again?

re: missing files in the .../docs - I forgot to check those in sorry!.

re: incompletely transformed: these are transformed using the script build-ip-clearances.xml (ant script) at the top level of the uima-website svn trunk checkout. I too noticed that some of the images didn't appear.

(Don't use the build.xml to "transform" these - this picks up the wrong setup - the build-ip-clearnaces script (at one point) picked up the setup used by the incubator to build these pages for the incubator. I'd guess they could be a bit out of date.)

re: mentioning the Darmstadt CCLA - I only mentioned the Colorado CCLA (in the section of the IP clearance doc that asks for refs to the "Software Grant", because the software grant from Colorado was not done separately, but rather as part of the CCLA. So, in this section I don't think we need to reference other CCLAs.

You added a mention for the Colorado CCLA, but there is none for the Darmstadt CCLA. I tried to add that and commit the changes to the uima-website, but it seems I have no permissions.

I have attached an updated version of the XML file to this issue.

It seems the IP clearances didn't make it to the docs folder. The files for the Alchemy API and for uimaFIT are missing at https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/uima/site/trunk/uima-website/docs/ip-clearances. The clearances there for UIMA AS and the concept mapper look rather incompletely transformed.

I'll check in your updated version to https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/public/trunk/content/ip-clearance and continue with the process.

I've checked it, and made some minor updates, and put it in our website under xdocs/ip-clearances, and ran the script that builds the html, so we can look at it in docs/ip-clearances.

Next step is to follow the process for checking it into the incubator spot. Richard - can you do that?

Thanks. I'll check it. The incubator actually is the right place, although we also have a spot in our website where we keep these. I need to write a new section of our website that documents how to do this... The rationale for posting in the incubator is that the incubator has lots of people looking over and checking things that are new to Apache.

Marshall Schor, I have attached a filled-in template. Since I do not have a member or officer status in the ASF, can you please check the template? If I am misunderstanding this, I can also proceed, although I don't know where to commit it (http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/ doesn't seem to be the right place).
