Description

Testing on IBM mainframe under z/OS 10 reveals that some core test cases fail to handle text encoding correctly. This works on other platforms because the test cases just use ascii characters, which happen to work for most platform encodings. Not so on z/OS, where the platform encoding is ebcdic.
