Description

On configure, manual intervention is required where pax is unable to identify the format and user must enter "." to quit pax. Problem is upstream in configure file. Here is pertinent snippet from config.log:

configure:3482: $? = 0
configure:3522: tardir=conftest.dir && eval tar --format=ustar -chf - "$tardir" >conftest.tar
tar: value 9900322 out of uid_t range 0..2097151
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
