Description

See the log message for Greg Stein's commit of 2001-08-13 on deadprops.c;
the log message begins with the phrase "BIG HACK".

Chances are high that this will be resolved today and this issue can go away,
but in case we go live with the hack still in place, we don't want to just,
uh, forget it's there. :-)
