Bug in diff: different characters are not highlighted

    Description

      There is a bug related to diff, where two different lines are correctly tagged 
as different but the different characters are not highlighted. With other lines 
of the same file everything works fine.

While "diff" highlights line 1 as "different", it does not highlight the 
different characters as it has been done on line 4 (see screenshot diff-
bug.png).
