[STORM-3760] Storm 2.2.0 not reporting newWorkerEvents metric

Hi everyone,
 
We have recently migrated from Storm 0.10.0 to Storm 2.2.0, we have a custom StatsdMetricConsumer which implements IMetricsConsumer interface. 
 
Storm is still reporting some metrics (_transfer-count, ack-count, metrics, etc) but it seems after the migration it stopped reporting newWorkerEvents metric. I made sure this is not a problem in our implementation by logging all the metrics received handleDataPoints method.
 
Is this a known issue? any way to get that metric fixed?
