Description

Fix the build to support Java 1.6 — for now — but plan for a rapid re-engagement

1. inset types on diamond constructors
2. string switch -> if. with c
3. multi-catch -> duplicate caches
4. try with resources -> try/catch/finally

All changes other than the diamond constructors must be tagged with a comment JDK7 so that they can be found later and addressed again when the requirement for Java 6 support is obsolete
