Description

In trying to set up some Windows CI for the GitHub mirror (via Appveyor) it became clear that some of the tests don't currently work on Windows. This should be fixed so that we can also leverage Windows for CI going forward (which is helpfully often more quickly available due to the general popularity of using Linux hosts for CI jobs).
