      - The Kudu podling has been using this name for several months prior to incubation.
      - The .NET foundation has a project called Kudu which is "the engine behind git/hg deployments, WebJobs, and various other features in Azure Web Sites.". We have been in touch with this foundation's legal team and received approval to share the name Kudu in September, 2015.
      - Several smaller software projects on github (see detailed notes below) which appear to be inactive or projects of single developers rather than communities. None are related to data storage, databases, or the Apache Hadoop ecosystem.
