[OLIO-52] Web application consumes increasingly more time as run progresses

Description

As we run for a long period of time, we notice that the usr time on the web server system keeps going up. As a result of this, the response times start to increase and depending on the idle time left on the system, the response times can fail.
On analysis, this was tracked down to "GET /events.php?socialEventID=xxx". The access_log shows increasing time for this request.
