Description
There have been many questions in the community about how much jvm memory NiFi needs to run vs how much overall memory must be available on the system running NiFi. A non-trivial amount of people in the community have run into the same issue where they have given the JVM heap too large a share of the overall memory leading to various OOM event.
We should add documentation to the System Administrator's Guide about how much memory to give the JVM heap, and what other considerations you need to take when defining the overall system memory available to NiFi, for instance the relationship between number of threads in the JVM and memory use and other runtime specifics which may cause NiFi to use more memory. Keep in mind that the audience, the system administrator, may not be familiar with how the JVM allocates memory.
