expected

• Opened a GUI form (JPanel)
• netbeans normally displays GUI layout

actual

• Was shown a pop-up for unexpected exception
• GUI JPanel layout was still displayed – but it is unclear if the screen is correct
• Need to close Netbeans in case the form has been corrupted.
