"Compile on Save" not working in Gradle Project, Config Option disabled

    Description

      In NB 11.1 the "Compile on Save" feature stopped working for Gradle Projects. The option is not selected in the configuration and cannot be selected due to being greyed out (see screenshot). The 11.2beta3 exhibits the same behavior.

      When I open the exact same project in NB 8.2 the feature works as expected. There is a global configuration option that can be enabled and disabled as well (see other screenshot).
