Description

The README.txt file in the distro contains some text that should be updated/corrected:

Windows 2000/XP

(There are other quotes as well around different Windows versions.) We should probably just specify Windows.

Please see the file called LICENSE.TXT

The file is called LICENSE

On Windows, Windows NT and above or Cygwin is required for the startup scripts.

Very confusing. What are we saying?

Also, the stated link http://maven.apache.org/release-notes.html should be verified if it's the correct one. There was a recent discussion on the dev list around the release notes not being up-to-date.

Any changes should be synced with the http://maven.apache.org/download.html#Installation page as well.
