It might be nice to be able to set up AJAX actions that would operate on arbitrary POJOs or portlets within a portlet application (more or less extending the AJAX API to jetspeed to custom portlet applications).
The AJAX actions would need to be able to be secured using jetspeed's existing security framework.
The actions should have access to the request and response objects and be able to write to the response.
This would allow one to modify application state or retrieve data or markup snip-its to drive richer client UIs.
The AJAX actions should be configurable in a spring configuration similar to ajax-layout.xml.
