[JS1-351] Using Jetspeed with J2SE 1.4.2-beta breaks portlets

Description

When using Jetspeed with J2SE 1.4.2-beta some portlets (news types) displays the
following error:

problem in SAX transform: org.apache.xml.utils.WrappedRuntimeException: The
output format must have a '

{http://xml.apache.org/xalan}

content-handler' property!

Not knowing for sure where the problem may lie, I also opened a jdk bug with
sun. No bug ID assigned yet.

Is there any workaround known without dropping back to a previous JDK version?
