Snapshot Jenkins builds for OpenJPA 2.3.x branch

    Details

      Description

      I recently took on the task of finishing up the task of releasing OpenJPA 2.3.0. As part of this process, I need to ensure that we are properly building and deploying the artifacts for the associated service stream 2.3.x. I'm not clear on what needs to be done to get the 2.3.x stream built on a nightly basis and have the build artifacts deployed to the snapshot repository. Following the Jenkins wiki, it seems that most requests like this result in a JIRA, so I'm trying that route. Feel free to point me at self-help instructions, if they exist. Thanks!

        Hi Gavin, any progress on this JIRA? We're prepping for another OpenJPA release and I'd like to get this last one up and running completely before kicking off a new one... Thanks!

        Hi Kevin,

        I'm just a committer like you.
        I see this ticket depends on INFRA-7738 that mentions BuildBot so I can share with you how Apache Wicket project does this.
        At https://svn.apache.org/repos/infra/infrastructure/buildbot/aegis/buildmaster/master1/projects/wicket.conf you can see our BuildBot config. I see openjpa.conf in the same directory.

        All you need to deploy -SNAPSHOT versions is to do: "mvn deploy". I guess OpenJPA's pom.xml uses the Apache parent pom:
        <parent>
              <groupId>org.apache</groupId>
              <artifactId>apache</artifactId>
              <version>13</version>
        </parent>

        this is enough for Maven to realize that -SNAPSHOT versions should be deployed at https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/snapshots.

        Yeah, not sure what you need here - you should be able to just create a job and make sure it's doing mvn deploy.
