Synopsis:

An Impala query fails with error "ERROR: IllegalStateException: null"

Problem:
========
Customer has provided the following reproduction case:

create table tab1( tdate decimal(10,0) )
   partitioned by (p_tdate int);
 
select
   *
from
   (SELECT
       t.*
FROM
tab1 t
INNER JOIN
(SELECT 20191004 tdate ) d
WHERE
t.p_tdate < d.tdate
) q
where
   p_tdate <> tdate
   and P_TDATE = 20191004;

Impala logs shows the following warning:
