    Description

      The String Functions page could do with a round of general improvements, similar to what was done a while back for the Date/Time Functions page:

      • Ensure every function has at least one associated example. For example, per IMPALA-3330, there is currently no example for translate().
      • Make sure any nuance with regard to STRING, VARCHAR, and CHAR data types is called out. For example, how does the space-removing aspect of trim() interact with the space-adding aspect of CHAR data types?
