      Description

We need to move Impala's JIRA instance from issues.cloudera.org to issues.apache.org.

The JIRA instance isn't created yet. I think (per https://issues.apache.org/jira/servicedesk/customer/portal/1/INFRA-10895) it's easiest for ASF infra to do so when we're ready to pre-populate it from this instance.

Mike Percy did this for Kudu, and I think it was a headache in terms of mapping users across instances and so on. Check with him before you take this on!

Also, once the move is complete, each issues.cloudera.org JIRA should link to (or HTTP 301: Moved Permanently) to its corresponding issues.apache.org JIRA.

Kudu redirected their issues to the ASF, too, so that https://issues.cloudera.org/browse/KUDU-100 redirects to https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KUDU-100. Apparently the bug numbers have to match for this to work. I imagine the Cloudera infra people know how to do this.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm following it now. I've asked for the confirmation of the import behavior for missing mappings.

Were you planning on adding that feature to https://github.com/mpercy/jira-migration-tools ? If so that would be fantastic.

Also, issue links don't get migrated yet by that script ( https://github.com/mpercy/jira-migration-tools/issues ). If both of those were fixed in the script then this migration would be a push-button thing.

No updates since we last discussed in the meeting a few weeks back. I'm working on a few python scripts for updating the sub-tasks and I'll continue to do it this week.

No. The sooner the better. We will probably need it to graduate from the ASF incubator

Jim Apple - Do we have a timeline for this or a deadline until it needs to be done?

Take a look at the README at https://github.com/mpercy/jira-migration-tools ... I wrote some scripts that will help (but they are not 100% complete).

I also have some mapping files that are specific to migrating users from issues.cloudera.org to issues.apache.org that you can use as a starting point. I'd be happy to send those to whoever is going to do this migration.
