Description

During HTRACE-235, Cosmin decoupled zipkin from scribe. This was important, as that formalized the kafka transport. For years, zipkin was complex to understand due to beginners being unfamiliar with terminology. This was compounded by the amount of tiers needed to be deployed before one can start work.

Zipkin now has a "starter architecture", where the query server exposes a POST endpoint which can receive spans encoded in thrift or json. By supporting the http transport, we avail this simpler starter architecture to HTrace beginners as well.
