> $HADOOP_PREFIX_HOME/bin/hdfs dfadmin -refreshNameNode <datanode_host_name>:<datanode_rpc_port>
should be
> $HADOOP_PREFIX_HOME/bin/hdfs dfsadmin -refreshNameNode <datanode_host_name>:<datanode_rpc_port>

It just miss s in dfadmin
