yetus failure due to branch-2 not compiling; assume unrelated. I'll resubmit once fixed.
I'm considering if we could wrap the AWS SDK which something that shades Jackson, that is — create an intermediate module whose purpose is to isolate the AWS SDK jackson and so make using this release in 2.7.x straightforward, with branch-2 choosing whatever version of jackson people want. It'd be back to being some uber-AWS JAR. Where there's a risk here is if someone wants to use an AWS library which we don't bundle (say: kinesis, SNS, ...) and they get linked up, or worse: include duplicate dependencies.
I am so looking forward to Java 9, even if I have no idea how we'd get Hadoop to work there.
