[GEODE-1085] GRADLE UPDATE - Gradle bug defaults Language Level to 6 when IntelliJ imports project from gradle

Description

When the project is imported into IntelliJ IDEA, the gradle plugin defaults the language level to 6 ignore the setting in the gradle files. [level - 8]

This is a known bug and also reported in GRADLE's JIRA page

Gradle must be updated when this fix comes in or if a work around can be devised in the meantime.
