Description
daf:error(...) should accept an argument, but you get an obscure internal failure if you put one in.
However, really daf:error should be replaced by fn:error which takes multiple arguments. The DFDL-WG has agreed that fn:error is essential (esp. for expressions in dfdl:outputValueCalc, since when unparsing there is no work-around using dfdl:assert).
