cpio is terribly slow

    Description

      I have a directory with 20 jar files in it to be placed into a cpio archive. This seems VERY slow (about 3 minutes). It is almost immediate with the linux cpio command (of course its non-java). is there any way to improve speed for the cpio archiving?
