DateField constructors contain this code:

super(...);
...
setFormatPattern("dd MMM yyyy");
(yes, same code 3 times

I suggest to replace it with this:

public static String defaultFormatPattern = "dd MMM yyyy";

super(...);
...
setFormatPattern(defaultFormatPattern);
