[CB-9367] new search page - typing in the search box stutters, poor apparent performance

This problem goes away once the dataset loads completely but the page doesn't have an indicator that the results are still loading – even though the "Loading.." placeholder in the searchbox goes away after page load, if you immediately type you will encounter this jankiness.

Recommend a loading indicator or keep the "Loading..." placeholder until the dataset completely loads.
