[CB-7728] Rapidly opening and closing a select crashes the app

Description

In order to ensure it wasn't our code, I made a new cordova project and just added a select with two options in it to the index.html page. If you open the app in the ipad simulator or on a device and then rapidly open and close the select (so you click the element again while it is still trying to open) the app will crash.
