navigator.camera.getPicture() is the rough equivalent of what is provided by the W3C HTML Media Capture specification: http://www.w3.org/TR/html-media-capture/

That spec is now at Candidate Recommendation status, so deemed to be stable. Ideally, the cordova plugin would be aligned with it.
