I use the ISO-8859-1 in the encoding of my xml and xsl files, because i work in spanish languaje. When i render to PDF i don't have problem, but when i use the same xml and xsl to render TEXT i have problem with special character. I put the es.xml in the HYPHENATION directory and i have configured the userconfig.xml file, but i get the same results. The output appearst to be UTF-8 encoded. You can use a UTF-8 aware tool to view it, like Win2k/XP Notepad, or use GNU recode to change the enoding to ISO-8859-1. The best way to fix this is probably a new configuration or command line parameter for choosing the encoding for text output.
Fixed in CVS maintenance branch. There is now a command line parameter to set the encoding for the output of the text renderer.
