Similar to the problem reported in:
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PLUTO-120?page=all

the inclusion of writer.flush(); in the doEndTag() method in BasicURLTag.java causes an IOException when nesting <portlet:renderURL> inside a <display:column> tag. Removing this line fixes the problem.
