Description
It would be super helpful to be able to report certain topic configs as metrics from Kafka to third-party monitoring tools. Using those metrics, users can setup detectors to get alerted when a topic is not configured with correct message retention time or doesn't have desired no. of replicas, etc.
I have browsed online and searched through git@github.com:apache/kafka.git for anything that exposes topic configs as metrics but I couldn't find anything. It's possible to report them using a custom script but having this builtin would make it so much easier.
